The delightfully gossipy Julia Hartley Brewer will be presenting a timely programme on the history of Deputy Prime Ministers at 9pm on BBC4 tonight called Every Prime Minister Needs a Willie. Having just announced she's pregant, Julia should know! I am assuming that a planned 'one on one' interview with Prescott didn't happen - just as well. Rumours would have started!

The delightfully gossipy Julia Hartley Brewer will be presenting a timely programme on the history of Deputy Prime Ministers at 9pm on BBC4 tonight called Every Prime Minister Needs a Willie. I'm sure we all look forward to Julia Hartley Droops programme. PS-Does anyone remember the name of John Majors "Willie".
I don't remember the name but I understand that it smelt of curry.
Sir John never really found a Willie, if you'll forgive the expression. He tried David Waddington and John Wakeham, Chris Patten and Douglas Hurd turned him down, and Tarzan was of a rather different stripe.
Julia Hartley Brewer must know a lot about Willies, then?
Someone should ask JHB if one A Campbell ever counted as a Willie - maybe to Blair?
