July: A Record Month for Mr Dale's Diary

July was a record month for this blog. There were more than 176,000 unique visitors and nearly 300,000 page impressions. Not bad after only seven months. Obviously the Prescott stuff was the main reason for the dramatic rise in hits since June, but the good news is that many of the new visitors have become regulars. Glad you like it!

Here are my top 35 link sites (ie incoming hits) for July. All thes sites referred at least 100 people here. The arrows denote whether a site has moved up or down or stayed static since June.

Noel, feel free to use the scroll down button. That's what it's there for. I put this information on the blog once a month. It's called marketing. It shows potential advertisers that this blog is a success. It shows other bloggers that linking here works and gets them more hits too. Most people who read this story will probably click on one or other of the blog links mentioned. Blogging is a community and I like to do my bit to encourage people to visit other blogs they may not be familiar with.

I find it interesting if only to see where Iain gets his hits from. Hopefully I may start referring one or two people from the new site from now on!

Congratulations. But please, please PLEASE stop faffing about with the colour of the banner! You're just giving grist to the socialist spinmeistersingers for more chameleon accusations. And you keep giving me a migraine.

The new blue is mildly ok but the turquoise was nicer tho' less pukka. Did wonders for your complexion:-)

In support of what Iain says, my sites get a lot of visitors from this blog.
This post will increase that number and reward people for linking to Iain.

I also find it interesting to see where I should be trying to get links from :)

And it is very much appreciated, believe me.

His Grace is honoured to come 32nd.

Mr Dale has earned more hits from Cranmer's link than Cranmer has received from Mr Dale's...

Still, Mr Dale has a sea of links, in which Cranmer is minuscule and insignificant. One wonders what material one has to include to make 'Dale's Daily Blogs', but then, Mr Dale has no religious interests (even religio-political interests), save a latent admiration for Catholicism.

Bless you.

Iain, would you please provide a link to these figures? Thanks.

Hydrangea - mmmm, nice. The turquoise reminded me of the Barclays Bank corporate colour.

Iain Dale said...

Garbo, the figures come from ExtremeTracking. I can't link to them because my account can only be accessed by a password.

I rather like the stats, but now have the hump because I've fallen off the referers list.

Mr Croydonian,

Iain - it is interesting and as you say useful - and I am very pleased to be doing my bit to send you a few over.
In fact it is so useful I thought it was instructive to see how Guido compares to you - see http://www.anenglishmanscastle.com/archives/003027.html :)

Quite interesting, thanks Iain, yours is a very good blog, with good strong debate and lots of useful information coming out not just from you but many sources. Particularly like the links to other articles you provide which help to keep me up to date. I do wonder though if you couldn't play more of a role as an editor of comments, even though I feel sure you will be accused of censorship if you cut people shor

This is my first entry, hope I don't slip off the precipice...

I enjoy reading some of the other posts on your list too, some I've never come across before. As Paul says, it is a great community.

Interesting that Radio 4 / Today is complaining that its figures are DOWN year on year becau it has been 'a light news' month compared to 12 months ago.

And what colour is Chartreuse anyhow ? They don't have that behind the bar of my local...

anonymous 6.41. moderating comments is a no-win situation for me. If I don't censor them I am attacked and if I do I am attacked, so I tend to err on the site of letting everything through. i probably censor only about 1 in 100.
