A Cunning Plan for Political Parties

Unlock Democracy (an offshoot of Charter 88) is launching a new publication in January called THE FUTURE OF POLITICAL PARTIES. The co-authors are - and I hope you are sitting down - are Baldrick (aka Tony Robinson), Theresa May, Chris Huhne and Matt Carter. This would be the same Matt Carter who may well have helped ensure that one political party has very little future indeed. He was Labour Party General Secretary at the time of the dodgy loans.

Could be wrong, but bet that it ought to be called 'Unlock Your Wallets', a staunchly democratic attempt to get public funding for political parties. After all, it can hardly be democratic that the Tories, LibDems, Greens, Respect, UKIP, BNP, Vegan Nut Cutlets For A Better World *and* Justice For Rate-Payers at 47 Acacia Ave Wilmslow will all have more money to spend than NuLab in the next election.

Serves the buggers right IMO.

Political Parties should be banned - it is so divisive and they are affiliated to organised crime.

Whips should be fired and go trhe way of the Hunt.

There should be Independent MPs to represent constituents only and none of this centralised party machine stuff which is a means of intimidating the electorate's representatives

Britain needs entirely new parties. Seriously. Anyone interested in this ongoing project should email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com, and tell me a bit about themselves politically (and in other ways, such as part of the country, religion, &c).

This has already inspired the ire of my MP, the fragrant Hilary Armstrong, and of her nasty-neocon office boy and favoured successor. They are certainly taking it all VERY serriously...
