FOI Request Reveals Foreign Office View on Cameron India Visit

The Open Secrets blog has a story HERE on David Cameron's visit to India. Apparently the Foreign Office were impressed by him. Well there's a double edged sword if ever there was one! Read the British Ambassador's comments HERE - it's a letter back to the FO obtained under FOI legislation. THIS email exchange is also revealing.

Pity that they blacked out part of point 8. Mr Gut instinct says it would have been telling.

Could this be the gimmick which we were "one step" away from???

Fascinating stuff, Iain. Thanks for pointing it out. Glad to hear that the visit was felt to be "professional". (Or is that just by comparison with Ma Beckett's caravan?!) They even managed to spell "Osborne" correctly by the end of the e-mail exchange!

Almost makes me wistful about my early years in the Civil Service ...

OK, can someone please explain why any of this is "revealing"? What interest is there in the fact that our High Commission in India helped out with a visit by Cameron - he is the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition and is rightly accorded certain priviliges by Cabinet Office when travelling overseas on official business. Nothing new there, folks.....

Dear God! What a waste of space! Just another load of bloody pointless padding.
