A Record Week for This Blog

It's been a record week for the blog. The highest day in the blog's history was Friday with 12,298 unique visitors. During the whole week there were 60,603 unique visitors (15% more than the previous best) and 102,987 reloads. Thank you all for making it worth my while doing what I do.

Do you really want to be an MP? I think you should pursue your TV career - despite your weight problem (it never stopped Christopher Soames, did it?) - you're a great interviewer. Perhaps you could take over from Paxo. Oh no, that's the BBC and you don't like them do you?

But seriously(?) your Diary (and your audience/contributors are much more interesting than a lot of others.

For me too, though on a much much much smaller scale ;)

Perhaps DC will ask you to be a consultant on the way forward for the BBC. Now that would be an interesting job.

Yes, but have you made any real progress in the north ?

Great job. Well done Ian. I used to instinctively go to BBC on election nights but frankly found you were way ahead of their rather stodgy and dull presentation that was way way behind most of the time.

Oh but Iain, we should thank you! Your site cheers me up ;)

You're an inspiration to us all :)

No, as Iain Dale points out he isn't neutral so he could never be a proper journalist.

You really are quite bitter and twisted aren't you? Not surprising I suppose after Thursday.

For the record I have never wanted to be what you call a proper journalist.

Lighten up!

Duncan, So journalists are neutral, are they ?

Iain, Borrowman appears to come from the same camp as Andrew Keen. Best to ignore.

I came across your site only a couple of days ago. Wish I'd known about it before the election - the BBC offering on TV was dire.

Keep up the good work.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but a lot of those reloads can be attributed to the fact that IE6 generally takes three tries to open your blog; that's three hits. Usually, I get a "Cannot open" warning and "page not available" popup. Yeah, Blogger rulez.

You are welcome and thanks for the hits you send my way.

raincoaster: so it's not just my system. This has been happening for weeks.

Sometimes pressing "back" works, for some reason.

Now that Guido seems to have lost interest, may we have a post giving authoritative news about the issue which has been trembling on people's lips all over this scepter'd isle, this precious stone set in a silver sea: WHERE'S GORDON?

Congratulations, you deserve it. Election coverage everywhere else was sadly lacking this year.

My IE7 only takes one hit to load, but the loading is very slow.

It does now seem to take two attempts to make a comment. Happy to make your work worthwhile.

Despite not having the resources of a BBC or Sky, your coverage was quite capable and not a little charming. I especially enjoyed the appearance of the Labour MP Andrew MacKinlay [sp?]. He seems a very agreeable fellow and his analysis of the LibDems' success in hanging on to traditionally Tory seats was penetrating to say the least.
The appearance of the representatives of the "minor parties" was quite engaging as well. After that segement, I could not help thinking that the natural political home for at least three of those men is the Conservative Party--and wondering why it is they are outside of it.
All in all, I came away wishing we had something like 18 Doughty St. here in the States.

Oh dear, Duncan. Then you won't be pleases to hear that THERES MORE about you and the Lib Dem defeat today...

Why do those boring Liberals keep turning up to a Conservative Blog and moaning about the fact it isn’t a Liberal one. I have always thought their rancid political dishonesty was the most irritating thing about them but I begin to wonder if sheer congenital idiocy isn’t a contender.

Well done Iain yours is still the best blog by a long way. Given that you don’t need the traffic what about banning the po faced Liberals twerps . they make my teeth itch and always talk rubbish anyway. This place is becoming rather infested with them and their odious self congratulatory prattle . Honestly the Labour Party I can put up with but the liberals are simply beneath contempt and there is no point bothering with them.

Why not have an ,A-PARTY -ITE system ? All the Liberals who are not beyond all reason are now Conservatives and it isn’t just Ming it s intellectual bankruptcy and self contradictory blather. The Conservatives need to focus on the C`s that voted for them in the North especially . Consorting with a lot of narcissistic teachers is off putting to the working class support we should have. Help the Party and ban the Liberals , they’ll be so happy to have something to whine about
