Boris is on the March to the Mayoralty

Boris seems to have gone into overdrive. And what's more he's got a very colourful new website. It was always my hope that his apparent inactivity in the weeks before Christmas was a typical Boris-type ruse to lull his opponents into thinking he wasn't serious and that he'd come out in January all guns blazing. He actually spent the time on policy developing and immersing himself in London issues. Far from being a hive of inactivity he spent the time visiting all parts of the capital to brief himself on local issues and meet people away from the gaze of the press.

The ITV poll which put him only one point behind Livingstone demonstrates that the mayoralty is Boris's for the asking. The poor showing of Brian Paddick at a mere 7% demonstrates that this really is a two horse race. Only Boris can beat Ken! The fact that Boris has now got Lynton Crosby, Toby Vintcent and James McGrath on board also bodes well for the future of his campaign's strategic planning.
Go Boris!

So far as I am aware, Boris always said he wouldn't start campaigning seriously until the New Year. Struck me as being sensible, endless campaigning far in advance of an event can get very boring. I can't remember which political commentator said over the weekend that Boris had taken to heart that he had berated him for laziness and stepped up his campaign.. Peter Oborne, maybe... whoever it was, he was just congratulating himself for influence that doesn't exist.

Go Boris!

This is good news ,not that I ever doubted him. What a wonderful thing it would be for London to get some relief from the scourge of Livingstone and what a tremendous help to David Cameron.
I have a vision , it is of Boris armed with the largest individual electoral mandate in the country ushering in a new golden age . It will be as if Yellow maned Aslan had finally slain the Snow ken ( er queen.. ok its a reach )
Bells will joyously ring out the end of miserable bendy bus shaped class warfare and the City will call out to the country to unite behind David Cameron with new hopeful way forward for the country.

...why not ?

Go Boris !

good on boris but crosby does lack political judgment. the howard campaign was on the wrong issues. look up the book Smell the Coffee on www.lordashcroft.com Crosby may help in bringing some discipline but must not have any final word on policy or political strategy. i think his appointment was done in an unnecessary panic

Boris: Good to have you on board Lynton old chap!

Lynton: Nice to be here Boris to help you get London fit for a true Aussie to live in again.

Boris: Ah, right…“true Aussie” what would that be old man?

Lynton: Well as I was saying to Michael H back in ’05 your problem in the Old Country is that it ain’t the old country any more – if you get my drift.

Boris: A bit too socialist you mean?

Lynton: No mate a bit too dusky more like – have you been to Brixton recently?

Boris: Ah, got to be a bit careful there old man. Sensitive area…

Lynton: Yeah I always lock my car doors when I drive through it.

Boris: No I mean the “multicultural bit” don’t want to seem a racist…

Lynton: Leave it to me Boris baby; you’ll be white as snow. We’ll get others to run the race hate stories just like I did for John H back in ’98 and ’01.

Boris: Well Ken seems to like the mullahs in the mosques rather a lot – could play that card…

Lynton: No worries! And the sound of the call to prayer disturbing folks sleep! And that ghastly Galloway bloke, all grist for the mill Boris mate!

Boris: Needs to be sensitively done – I made a bit of a goof in Liverpool.

Lynton: No Worries – sensitivity is my middle name! Just watch it fly! Then we’ll do the same for Dave in 2010 – that’ll stuff ‘em. Sydney first. Then London. Then Grand Old England – then the world!
